Karlsson, 36, a Kandy-born who was adopted by her Swedish parents when she was three months old, competed for Sweden until 2018, when she switched to her native country. In 2021, Mathilda qualified as an individual rider for Tokyo Olympics, being the first Sri Lankan equestrian at an Olympic Games.
