Matatu operators plying Kayole route have sued Cord leaders for damages to their property during Monday’s demonstrations in push for removal of IEBC commissioners. Justice Isaac Lenaola directed the operators to serve the application to Cord leaders for hearing on June 13. They sought an order restraining the Cord leaders from violating their rights by calling for demonstrations or protests. The protests, the group argued, were to be peaceable and the participants being unarmed both of which have been absent in the demonstrations organized by the Cord leaders. Wacera was the registered owner of the matatu that was burnt during the CORD demonstration.
