A man was sentenced in Masterton District Court on Thursday for sexually abusing his daughter. A Masterton’s man sexual abuse of his daughter over a period of five years was made “far more serious” by the breach of trust, the judge presiding over the case said. The man, 41, who has name suppression to protect the identity of his victim, was sentenced to six years and three months imprisonment by Judge Barbara Morris in Masterton District Court on Thursday. “It was made far more serious by the fact that it was against your own daughter in a massive breach of trust,” Judge Morris said. “The acts of abuse happened many times in different places and over the course of five years.”The father pleaded guilty to the 14 charges of sexual abuse and sharing explicit images.
