Franz Josef on the West Coast is once again cut off because of the effects of bad weather. A massive slip blocking State Highway 6 on the West Coast will take at least six weeks to fix, Westland District Council Mayor Bruce Smith said. SUPPLIED Heavy rain has caused a number of major slips on the West Coast, forcing a large section of State Highway 6 to be closed. The company is the largest hotelier on the West Coast with five properties in the region. He said people needed to realise the environment on the West Coast was fragile and "you just can't engineer your way out of this stuff".
