GEORGE TOWN: The ongoing hot spell in the state has resulted in a massive bush fire near the famous Kek Lok Si Temple. The Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call about 7.10pm, alerting them to the blaze in at four areas near the temple. “Our men used jet shooters to control the blaze,” he said, adding that more than 25 firefighters were involved in the operation. It is learnt that the fire was caused by the burning of trees which had been felled. “It involves a very dangerous and narrow path, made worse by the lack of lighting.” he added.
