Masidi: Climbers affected by March 8 quake can either reschedule or claim compensation - Nation

KOTA KINABALU: Climbers who could not make it to the peak of Mount Kinabalu due to the March 8 quake in Ranau can either reschedule or claim compensation from the relevant parties. Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun (pic) said he has informed Sabah Parks to come up with a new schedule for the affected climbers as soon as possible. "Those who do not want to proceed with the climb can contact their respective travel agents or booking centres to get a compensation," he said when officiating at an event here on Friday (March 9). He said he had received numerous messages especially via Twitter from climbers, asking if their climb could be rescheduled as they had trained for it for months. The earthquake, which measured 5.2 on the Richter scale, saw the evacuation of more than 100 climbers at Mount Kinabalu from their hostels close to the 4,095m summit.
