KUALA LUMPUR (April 6): Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin has apologised and agreed to withdraw a purported defamatory statement against Umno secretary general Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki. “Mas Ermieyati has agreed to make a written apology, withdraw and delete the defamatory posts on all her social media accounts and pay RM50,000 to Mara,” he said. A consent judgement between Asyraf Wajdi and the Masjid Tanah member of Parliament was recorded at the Malacca High Court on Monday before Judicial Commissioner Isa Aziz Ibrahim. Asyraf Wajdi also said that the RM50,000 will not go to him personally but will go into wakaf Mara to benefit poor and orphan students. In May, Asyraf Wajdi filed the suit against Mas Ermieyati after she accused him of misusing Mara funds through surprise visits to Mara Junior Science Colleges, cutting allocations for Quran memorisation programmes, and halting sponsorships for vocational training students.
