Maryland forward Jared Nickens waited quietly on the bench during the second half of Thursday night’s game at Iowa, patiently watching his team’s 14-point lead dissolve in the second half. He received it with just over four minutes remaining, his team trailing by three and Coach Mark Turgeon telling the junior to enter the game. Turgeon has plugged Nickens into the power forward spot at times to compensate for the injuries and foul troubles. But by the late stages of the game, Turgeon particularly needed the skill that Nickens has always been known for, and the junior delivered. “He obviously hit a big shot the other night.”
