They hadn’t counted on an anonymous tipster turning them in to the city for violating a rule against attaching anything to a public tree. The girls were selling the drinks to passing roller-bladers and cyclists at $1 a glass to raise money for summer camp. The summer of 2016 may go down in history as one of the high points for those Canadian bureaucrats whose aim is to position themselves firmly between citizens and any hints of fun or enjoyment. Interestingly enough, it’s not entirely clear the girls really were on NCC property. The city told them to take the friendly, cooperative playground favourite down as soon as possible.
