Rogene Daquioag from the Marlborough Boxing Club won gold in the under 50kg category at the 2022 Golden Gloves South Island Championship over the Queen's Birthday Weekend. The 12-year-old fighter, who joined the club six years ago, was awarded the most outstanding cadet trophy out of 20 other competitors. Despite an older and taller opponent Marlborough boxer Rogene Daquioag​ won gold in the under 50kg category at the 2022 Golden Gloves South Island championship on Saturday. The 12-year-old fighter, who joined the Marlborough Boxing Club six years ago, was also awarded the most outstanding cadet trophy, out of 20 other competitors. I am really happy because I've been looking for something like for years to keep the boxing club going and to try to do it as cheap as we can.
