A move to improve water quality across New Zealand could saddle farmers with even more rules and costs, some Marlborough farmers say. Flaxbourne farmer Rob Peter said he was concerned the new policies would lump farmers with more regulations and costs, and no significant water quality change would occur. Federated Farmers environment spokesman Chris Allen said while some of the proposals "could be workable", others were "onerous, unjustified, even reckless".
