Good morning: After weeks of speculation will the Bank of England’s monetary policy committee finally raise rates today for the first time in a decade at the conclusion of its latest meeting? Or have the money markets and commentariat got ahead of themselves (yet again)? The markets certainly appear to have priced in a rise: Reuters’ interest rate probability tool puts the chances of a 0.25 per cent rate rise at 87.3 per cent when the decision is announced at midday, but most economists expect the vote to be close with only a slim majority of members, 5-4 or 6-3, expected to vote for a rise.
