Market watch: KSE-100 rises 652 points amid global recovery


Benchm­ark index increa­ses 2.13% to settle at 31,231.55KARACHI: A day after plunging over 1,000 points, the benchmark KSE-100 index staged a modest rally and rose 652 points amid a recovery in global stock markets. Traded value stood low at $40 million, down 22% and volumes came in at 173 million shares, down 26%. Overall, trading volumes decreased to 172.8 million shares compared with Monday’s tally of 233.3 million. Maple Leaf Cement was the volume leader with 20.4 million shares, gaining Rs1.14 to close at Rs23.39. It was followed by Hascol Petroleum with 19.9 million shares, gaining Re1 to close at Rs14.85 and Fauji Cement with 9.9 million shares, gaining Rs0.44 to close at Rs16.01.
