Market carnage continues in Europe


European stock markets dived after equities tanked in Asia and overnight on Wall Street due to the global coronavirus pandemic. London's benchmark FTSE 100 index lost 5.3 percent, Frankfurt's DAX 30 plunged 5.8 percent and the Paris CAC 40 tumbled by 5.7 percent. Stock market indices in Italy, Spain and Switzerland also shed around 5 percent. In the Gulf, the Dubai Financial Market plunged by more than 7 percent at the open . Abu Dhabi shares shed 6 percent.
