Market Now: BSE Smallcap index plunges 4%


NEW DELHI: The BSE Smallcap index was trading 4.14 per cent down at 17,046 around 10:50 am (IST) on Tuesday amid the huge sell-off in domestic as well as global markets.Shares of Peninsula Land (down 10.88 per cent), GPT Infraprojects (down 10.67 per cent), AstraZeneca Pharma India (down 9.91 per cent), Indian Acrylics (down 9.91 per cent), Intrasoft Technologies (down 9.81 per cent), Jain Irrigation Systems (down 9.75 per cent), JBM Auto (down 9.71 per cent), Jindal Saw (down 9.56 per cent), Cerebra Integrated Technologies (down 9.34 per cent), Minda Industries (down 9.14 per cent), Camlin Fine Sciences (down 9.11 per cent) and Visaka Industries (down 9.07 per cent) were among the top losers in the smallcap index.However, shares of Sical Logistics (up 4.97 per cent), Manali Petrochemicals (up 4.37 per cent), Signet Industries (up 2.66 per cent), Sonata Software (up 2.18 per cent), Technocraft Industries (India) (up 1.29 per cent), M M Forgings (up 1.20 per cent), Bhartiya International (up 1.17 per cent), ITD Cementation India (up 0.97 per cent), AYM Syntex (up 0.88 per cent) and Mindtree (up 0.19 per cent) were trading up in the smallcap index around that time.Benchmark BSE Sensex was 1,053 points down at 33,704, while the NSE Nifty50 index was 318 points down at 10,349.All components in the Sensex and Nifty50 index were in the red.Tata Motors (down 6.70 per cent), Vedanta (down 4.85 per cent), Indiabulls Housing Finance (down 4.75 per cent), Axis Bank (down 4.64 per cent) and GAIL (India) (down 4.39 per cent) were the top losers in the Nifty50 index.
