GEORGE TOWN: Several eateries and hypermarkets have placed markers on the floor to remind customers of the need to maintain a separation of at least a metre from the next person in the queue as part of efforts to facilitate social distancing. At a local burger shop here, the chairs are placed at a distance of arm’s length for those waiting to take away their food. “Since we are only offering take away, we have kept our tables at the back of the shop and just placed rows of chairs, but at arm’s length. At a local supermarket, there are lines of tape on the floor to space each customer at least 1.2m apart as they queue to pay. Branch manager Tan Cheng Suah said it was the first day they were implementing the move as part of social distancing.
