Garcia on Saturday said that the upgrading and renaming of the Mariveles Mental Hospital into Mariveles Mental Wellness and General Hospital had been approved by the Senate Committee on Health and Demography headed by Sen. JV Ejercito. Despite its obsolete facilities in its sprawling area in the southern Bataan, the Mariveles mental health facility is known for its sterling record in mental health care. House Bill No. 8449 will increase the bed capacity of the Mariveles Mental Hospital to 700, have it renamed to Mariveles Mental Wellness and General Hospital and upgrade its services to include the operation of a Level I General Ward with a 100- bed capacity.
