The game sold over 459,000 physical and digital sales in the US. The previous record holder for fast-selling Mario Kart game was Mario Kart Wii which sold 433,900 units on launch day back in 2008, well before digital sales were a driving force in the console business. But if you were anything like me you sunk many, many hours into Mario Kart 8 on Wii U already. I guess this wasn't too much of an issue for Switch owners and Mario Kart fans.
