MSC started its operation as a National High School of Arts and Trade in 1952 by virtue of Republic Act (RA) 805. In 1983, it was converted to Marinduque School of Arts and Trade (MIST) through Batas Pambansa 377, and in 1990 its name was changed to Marinduque Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) through RA 6833. In 1992 MIST was changed to its present name — MSC — through RA 7319. The college has branches in the three other municipalities of Marinduque, namely Gasan, Sta.
