OTTAWA — The Conservative leadership race has its first female candidate after Ontario MP Marilyn Gladu announced she plans to enter the contest. Gladu said she has a team in place and is confident she can handle the requirements. “I think to expand our base we have to come to more of a centre position as a party,” Gladu said. Gladu said it’s important for the party to have women running for the leadership. “I think it’s always important to have strong women in the race, and I’m proud to be number one in the race,” Gladu said.
