PETALING JAYA: Lawmaker Maria Chin Abdullah is calling for a Gender Equality Act to be enacted as criticisms mount against the caller on a Facebook Live talk show who commented on Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar's modesty. She added that the comment on Nurul Izzah's modesty was done intentionally to harass her and make her discussion topic irrelevant. On Friday (May 25), a man by the name of "Azrul" called in during a Facebook Live interview session with Nurul Izzah solely to comment on the way she dressed. The man told Nurul Izzah to pay more attention to her modesty, saying that he could sometimes see her underwear and breasts when her headscarf is messy. On Twitter, Nurul Izzah agreed with Malaysians saying this highlighted the need for a Sexual Harassment Act or comprehensive laws against stalking and harassment of women.
