Lawrence Hill has been nominated for The Illegal, which won CBC's Canada Reads 2016, championed by Olympian Clara Hughes. The shortlist will be released on April 11, 2017 and the winner will be announced on June 21, 2017. CORRECTION: This article originally stated that 16 Canadian authors made the longlist, when in fact 17 are on the longlist.
