Marcos supporters want Imee to snub House probe

ILOCOS NORTE, Philippines — Supporters on Monday called on Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos to skip the House of Representatives Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability hearing on July 25. He said whatever statement Marcos, who, along with other provincial officials, faces allegations of misusing the province's share of the tobacco excise tax. The House probe was initiated by Ilocos Norte 1st District Rep. Rodolfo Fariñas, a former Marcos political ally. The Integrated Bar of the Philippines, and the Philippine Constitution Association — led by its president, former Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, the Ilocos Norte governor's cousin — back the CA order.
