Marchers rebuke WorldPride with an event of their own.

Image The Queer Liberation March in Greenwich Village near the Stonewall Inn. But this morning’s event is something else: the Queer Liberation March, offered up as an alternative rebelling against the way Pride events have evolved over the past 50 years. Marchers, accompanied by a band, carried rainbow and transgender pride flags, as well as signs that said “The future is nonbinary” and “We March Against Transphobia.” They chanted “Whose streets? Our streets!” and “Out of the closets into the streets.” Some said they noticed and appreciated what appeared to be an unobtrusive police presence. “We have the same discussions and the same divide in the queer community in Germany.”
