March saw record number of consecutive days of rain in the Region of MurciaSeveral weather stations located across Murcia recorded 26 days of rainfallAlong with much of Spain, the Region of Murcia has finally bid farewell to the wettest March in decades , breaking previous records for the number of consecutive periods of rainfall with 26 days of relentless downpours recorded in some municipalities. A whopping 200.4 l/m2 of rain fell in the region last month , the highest since 1962 when records began, leading to landslides and widespread havoc. Levels of rainfall surpassed those of previous record-breaking months, including March 2020, when 119.4 l/m2 was recorded, and December 2016 (188.3 l/m2). In fact, in just a single month, the Region of Murcia registered 63% of the expected precipitation for the whole year (316.6 l/m2). Interestingly, October was normal, November was wet, December and February were very dry, and January was dry, whilst March was extremely wet.
