Marawi holds incident-free polls

MANILA, Philippines — Except for a teacher failing to report for election duty, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) reported that the conduct of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls in Marawi City went smoothly yesterday. Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said all polling precincts opened on time based on reports from the field as of 11:30 a.m. yesterday. “The Comelec is relieved there is no failure of elections. We maintain zero-failure record of the nationwide barangay and SK elections this year,” he added. Comelec records showed that there are 50,893 registered voters for the barangay and 25,491 voters for SK in Marawi.
