Clelands Construction worker Rihari Tamati, 21, feels honoured to be working on the marae upgrades. That’s because the apprentice carpenter is assigned to a project which allows him to give back to his iwi, Te Ātiawa. As a series of marae undergo renovations across Taranaki, the 21-year-old employee of Clelands Construction is working on upgrades at Owae Marae, in Waitara. Ānaru White, of Te Ātiawa, said the funding was a boost for marae to complete a number of renovation projects. He expected the upgrades of Te Ātiawa marae to be complete by around mid-year.
