Mapua asked to conserve waterALDEN WILLIAMS/FAIRFAX NZ The Richmond Water Treatment PlantMapua residents and businesses are being asked to conserve water due to a problem with the main water pipe from the Richmond water treatment plant. Residents and businesses were being asked to conserve water as a precaution as only a limited amount of water was available and the system was not capable in its current state to withstand heavy demand. The water pipe runs from the Richmond water treatment plant, over the Waimea Inlet and along Rabbit Island to Mapua. The issue with the water pipe didn't affect the water quality, Choat said. Choat said the council would provide an update on the issue tomorrow.
