Many students of Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, fainted and were injured on Monday due to stampede while rushing into the hall to write the GNS 102 examination at the main campus of the university. All the affected students are in 100-level writing their last paper-which is the general course for all 100-level students for the 2018/2019 academic session second-semester examinations. An eye witness account said the incident happened at the new 500-seat capacity ICT centre of the institution and that the students were rushed to the school health centre and the nearby Igando General Hospital for medical attention. When contacted, the institution’s spokesman, Mr Ademola Adekoya, confirmed the incident, saying all the students for Monday exam wanted to enter the exam hall almost at the same time and in the process stampeded with some fainting and few others injured. While noting that except one student who is still receiving treatment at Igando General Hospital, all others without given specific number have been discharged as their cases according to him are minor.
