Now it looks like that world tour could be heading to Johannesburg later in 2017. The Citizen reports that according to an inside source, the Pacman will fight South African title contender Chris Van Heerden at FNB Stadium in November, provided the South African government can cover the expected $25 million-plus USD purse. The challenger's camp has been in discussions with South African sports minister Fikile Mbalula over the past week, according to the report. All parties are mum on the report, as Top Rank, Arum and Van Heerden manager Peter Kahn have replied to The Citizen report with the equivalent of "no comment." Native son Van Heerden, a former IBO welterweight title holder and current WBA Pan African champion, is 25-3 overall and is already a national celebrity.
