WINNIPEG — Manitoba’s latest flood forecast predicts the province is at a relatively low risk for major spring flooding. Infrastructure Minister Ron Schuler says river levels are predicted to be low even after a storm earlier this month. He says there is a moderate risk of overland flooding in some low-lying areas around the Red River and Assiniboine River. But even with unfavourable weather, water levels are expected to remain below the province’s flood protection infrastructure. Schuler says ice-breakers have been deployed to reduce the likelihood of flooding caused by ice jams.
