BJP Manipur Legislature Party Leader Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Wednesday (February 4, 2026) staked a claim to form a government in Manipur. President’s Rule, which was in effect in Manipur since February 2025, was revoked earlier in the day. Two Kuki-Zo MLAs L.M. Six MLAs in the Assembly are from the National People’s Party (NPP) and five from the Naga People’s Front. On August 5, 2025, Parliament approved the extension of President’s Rule in Manipur for another six-months till February 13.
