Mandatory test for United Christian Hospital's intensive care unit and palliative care ward

All visitors, patients and medics of United Christian Hospital's intensive care unit and palliative care ward have been issued with mandatory test notices, after Hong Kong's first Covid-19 medics cluster of 12 patients and seven staffers emerged, health authorities announced. The seven infected staffers – a phlebotomist, four nurses and two operational assistants – have all cared for the super spreader including feeding and cleaning. Since the super spreader had also stayed in the intensive care unit, the mandatory test order will cover all patients and medics there and at the palliative care ward. Despite hospitals have banned general visitors, discretionary visits were allowed in these wards due to patients being terminally ill. Therefore, visitors to the two wards from December 15 and yesterday will also subject to compulsory test.
