Mandatory curfew now in effect in Tampa

TAMPA — A mandatory, indefinite curfew took effect in the city at 6 p.m. Sunday. “We’ve asked people to get to know their neighbors, if you don’t already,” said Jason Penny, spokesman for Tampa Fire Rescue. Workers from Tampa Electric were also positioned so they would be to quickly begin pulling up downed power lines once it is safe. Rescue boats and amphibious vehicles were stored inside Raymond James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL football team. Even a section known as “malfunction junction” near Ybor City, Tampa’s historic Cuban district, was barren.
