MANILA, Philippines — The local government of Mandaluyong City has enforced the rule for residents to wear face masks while going out in public places as a precautionary measure to reduce the transmission of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). “All persons in public places within the territorial jurisdiction of Mandaluyong City without a face mask or face covering shall be liable under this Ordinance,” the order stated. This comes after the Department of Interior and Local Government urged local government units to issue an order requiring their residents to wear a face mask in public areas. The total number COVID-19 cases in the Philippines reached 3,870 as of Wednesday, the Department of Health announced. Of the total number, 182 succumbed to the disease while 96 managed to recover.
