Higginbotham spent three years in Manchester United’s academy during the 1990s before making his first-team debut – alongside Keane – in 1997. Asked how Keane was around the club’s academy players, Higginbotham told ESPN FC: ‘In my opinion, he was absolutely brilliant. ‘He used to give me his old boots and I actually made my Manchester United debut in a pair of his old his boots.
