Manchester United confident of keeping Paul Pogba after u-turn

United broke the world transfer record to re-sign Pogba in 2016 and conceded they’d have to sell the Frenchman this summer if he refused to sign a new contract. Pogba currently earns around £290,000-a-week at Old Trafford, making him the club’s second highest earner behind David De Gea. The Frenchman expects a payrise on his current deal, which could prove problematic given the club’s finances during the pandemic. But United believe they are in a strong position as few clubs in the world could afford Pogba’s wages, even if he leaves on a free transfer in 2022.
