Palmerston North City Council wants to connect Johnston Drive, on the left, to the end of Abby Rd, on the right. A property developer’s battle to build a subdivision in Palmerston North has once again been knocked back by the city’s council, with the Environment Court backing the move. Aokautere Land Holdings Ltd​ owns land at 30 Abbey Rd​, which it wants to turn into a six-lot residential area. But Palmerston North City Council has plans to connect Abbey Rd​ to nearby Johnston Drive​, which the company’s subdivision would prevent. The two parties were back in court in August, after the council declined the company’s resource consent application for its land.
