Jumper’s knee is a condition characterised by inflammation of the patella tendon that attaches the knee cap to the lower leg. As the name suggests patella tendonitis or jumpers knee is more common in sports that involve a lot of jumping. Most athletes or sports participants who suffer from jumper’s knee describe very specific pain at the front of the knee. X-rays are not often required but occasionally an MRI scan is required to exclude other causes of knee pain. Managing jumper’s knee requires patience and can be fairly frustrating.
