But just a half-step back from what went on during the 2016 campaign is more troubling legal news for Trump. On Tuesday, a federal jury in Virginia convicted former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort of eight counts of tax and bank fraud. None of the 18 charges stemmed from activities that happened while Manafort was leading Trump’s campaign in summer 2016.
