A man was wounded Sunday night in Prince William County in an exchange of gunfire with police, according to county Police Chief Barry Barnard. As officers arrived, someone began firing at them with a rifle in what the chief described as an ambush, the statement said. The two were found on Brandy Moor Loop in the Woodbridge area, according to police. Apparently by coincidence, the incidents appeared to be close in time; The officer-involved shooting occurred about 5:40 p.m., police said, and the other incident happened about 15 minutes later. A man who lives in the area where the officer-involved shooting occurred said he heard more than a dozen shots.
