He was initially arrested in January 1997, served a prison sentence for 23 years before being released in December 2019. In addition, the Circuit Judge George Mitchell ordered the state to pay Flowers KSh 5.4million every year for the next 10 years as well as an additional KSh 5 million to cover his legal expenses. In a related story, another man in Nevada was released after being wrongfully arrested and imprisoned for 18 years and was paid KSh 143 million.
