KOTA KINABALU: A man, suspected to have been drunk, tried to kill a barking dog but instead ended up getting killed after a fracas with the dog’s owner at a squatter settlement near Taman Mutiara along Jalan Utara in Sandakan. Sandakan police chief Asst Comm Mohd Azhar Hamin said the victim was unhappy with the dog barking at him and tried to hit it with a rod, but instead hit the dog owner’s pre-teen son. He said preliminary investigations showed that the victim, in his 30s, was believed to have gone to the suspect’s house to kill his dog at about 8.35am. They also seized the iron pipe that is believed to have been the murder weapon. Police sent the body to the Duchess of Kent Hospital police for a postmortem, he said, adding that they have classified the case as murder.
