A woman saved her own life and that of the man trying to kill her after wriggling through the window of a caravan quickly filling with gas, a court has heard. The man - who was living in a caravan at a Portobello campground - argued with the woman on their way home. The man pulled out a hunting knife with a 20cm blade and threatened to stab himself in the stomach. The defendant took the battery and sim card from the victim's phone and turned the gas stove on. ''It is a 9kg gas bottle and it will take a long time to die,'' the defendant said.
