MIAMI—Authorities say two universities in South Florida were on lockdown for several hours following a shooting that injured a man. Miami news outlets reported the shooting took place shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday near the front gate of Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens. The man, shot in the leg, was taken to a Miami hospital for treatment and his condition wasn’t available. Florida Memorial and nearby St. Thomas University immediately went on “lockdown,” meaning students were not allowed onto or off of the campuses. No arrests had been made by mid-afternoon but officers had left the university area.
