AN Osun State High Court, sitting in Ikirun, on Thursday sentenced a 25-year-old man, identified as Tajudeen Ganiyu to death by hanging for killing his neighbour’s four years old boy, Tesleem Bakare. Tajudeen was later apprehended by some youths, who took him to the palace of the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Rauf Olayiwola Adedeji, where he was handed over to the Police. Upon interrogation, the convict confessed to having killed the boy and led the policemen to the bush, where the remains of his victim were recovered. While delivering his judgment, Justice Jide Falola noted that the convict during his trial on February 14, 2018, admitted the guilt of a murder, but claimed to be mentally challenged. The court held that the boy was slaughtered like a ram and subsequently convicted the accused as charged.
