A man suffered what is described life-threatening burns Monday morning when a vat of extremely hot tar tipped over on him in an accident at Logan and Danforth Aves. Emergency responders responded just before 8 a.m., worked frantically to extricate the man who was trapped in the molten tar, which police estimated was as hot as 400C. Police said he has been sitting the back of the truck at the time of the accident. He was freed and rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital’s burn unit. Danforth Ave. was closed at Logan Ave. for investigation.
