Pandurang Kondmangale, 28, a barber from Kerur village in Nanded city of Maharashtra state, had three children, but only those with two or fewer children are allowed to contest the election. In order to qualify, he sought advice from village head Ganesh Shinde, who allegedly suggested that he get rid of one child. Workers in a nearby field heard a splash and rushed to the scene, only to find the girl’s lifeless body.
