A 48-year-old man has died in a suspected gas explosion that destroyed a house in Andover, Hampshire. Detectives are investigating the cause of the blast, which shook surrounding houses during the early hours of Thursday. Ch Insp Kory Thorne, Test Valley district commander, said: “This is a tragic incident in which one man has died, and we are working hard to find out what happened. We’re working closely with the emergency services as they carry out their investigations.”Dan Brown, a spokesman for the gas distribution company SGN, said: “While it is too early to speculate as to what has happened, we’re working closely with the emergency services to help identify the cause. “We’ll remain on site to support the emergency services to help discover the cause of the explosion.”
