The shootout occurred in the Bheramara Upazila Chandgram Union’s GK Colony Bridge-4 area around 2pm on Monday, said Bheramara Model police Station OC Khandker Shamim Uddin. According to OC Shamim, a team of police went to the area after reports that two gangs of drug dealers were engaged in a shootout in the area. “At one point the dealers fled and a man with gunshot wounds was found on the scene. He was recovered and taken to Kushtia Sadar Hospital, where the doctors on duty declared him dead.”Two police personnel have been injured in the incident, he said. A pistol, two rounds of ammunition and yaba was found at the scene, the police official added.
